The Christian Science Church of Cape Coral

Hurricane Ian Update

Many repairs have been made over the past year and a half, due to the kind generosity of donors and church members.

The steeple has been replaced, a major undertaking! The fence along the north side of the property has been repaired. Much has been accomplished inside the church: new flooring, drywall and paint. The roof over the Sunday School entrance was fixed so that it now allows rain to drain more efficiently. The last thing that needs to be done is painting inside the sanctuary where mildew had stained the walls.

On September 28, 2022, Hurricane Ian roared through Southwest Florida. Unfortunately, our church in Cape Coral, FL was damaged by the wind and rain. Below are some photos of the damage. Our hearts have been touched by the outreach of people we don’t even know. If you would like to help us rebuild our church, there is a donate button on the home page of this website. Please mark your donation “Hurricane Repairs.” Thank you so very much!

Our steeple was completely blown off the roof. There was some leakage on the roof but it is our hope that it was dried out completely during the remediation work. That allows us to continue holding services, for which we are very grateful!
This was our study room that is located just off the main portion of our Reading Room. Every book had to be removed, including all the bound volumes of the CS Sentinel and Jounral, as well as many research books. The built-in bookcases in this room as well as in part of the larger area of the Reading Room, had to be ripped out and discarded. The carpet also has been ripped out, and a portion of the drywall removed. The damage extended into the Sunday School and another adjoining room.
